Building software in the AI era: speed, skill, and responsibility

Our CTO and Co-Founder took the Software Engineering Inauguration stage at SLIIT to talk to students about the most exciting, and most dangerous, moment in software.

AT THE SLIIT SE INAUGURATION

Our CTO and Co-Founder, Mohammed Rishard, was the speaker for the Y2S2 session of the Software Engineering Inauguration at SLIIT, sharing an industry perspective with students at the start of their engineering journey. His theme was one we think defines the industry's next decade: building software in the AI era, with speed, skill, and responsibility.

AI can write code, refactor systems, and scaffold whole applications in minutes. But power without discipline is dangerous. The talk traced the shift from coder to architect, orchestrating AI tools and agents while keeping the judgment to know when the output is wrong. That judgment, he argued, is exactly what separates an engineer from a prompt, and it is the engineer the next decade needs.
